Judge #9 Comments- This is hauntingly engaging sketch evoking an eerie atmosphere with its stark black background. It’s an excellent portrait that captures a sense of otherworldly mystery and intrigue.

Judge #1 Comments- This piece made me smile like a simple sketch would but then made me sorrowful. I love when art can make you feel multiple feelings just by looking at it longer.

Judge #13 Comments – Art should affect the viewer by its beauty, humor, creativity, power, etc. Anyone viewing this work will be touched by its grim, hopeless figure. We are not told why the figure is so hopeless, which then leads the viewer to wonder where this hardship came from. Is it from the figure’s individual life or the society in which he lives or is it in the heart of the artist? It’s very unsettling, as I think it is meant to be.
